How D'banj Was Attacked By Area Boys
Nigerian music artist, D’Banj who recently got a 6th
generation IPAD tablet gift from Bono, the front-man of Dublin-based rock band
U2, was attacked by area boys over the weekend.
The Koko master, who showed up for his video shoot on
Saturday, at Tin Can Port, Apapa Lagos, in a Toyota RAV 4 with registration
number KJA6158BE was overpowered by some area boys who claimed to be guarding
the territory.
The Sun Newspaper, reports that as soon as the area boys
laid their eyes on the music star, they demanded he settles them but before he
could speak, they already deflated his tyres.
The day can be described as an unfortunate day for D’Banj,
as he was escorted to the ATM with the area boys and withdrew and an
undisclosed amount of money to settle them.
After parting away with a huge sum of money, D’Banj was
still held hostage by the area boys who ripped him off his jewelry, shoes,
wristwatch and much more.
However, it took the grace of God and the policemen before
the music star could be rescued.
An eye witness recounts that “I’m so excited, D’banj came to
Tin Can Island to shoot a video and guys saw him. They burst his tires and held
him hostage. He had to embrace every one of them and later he took them to an
ATM where he withdrew some cash for them and shared among them. I love D’banj;
it’s good to be a star”.
It could be recalled that, Bono was in Nigeria a couple of
weeks ago to create an awareness for the One campaign sponsored ‘Strong Girl
Remix’ which features top stars like D’Banj, Banky W, Waje, Omotola Jolade,
Femi Kuti, Diamond Platnumz and others. A song specially composed to bring
awareness of the plight of the female child, fight for their rights and
eradicate poverty.
