I Used Charms While Playing For Super Eagles, Others – Taribo West Confesses

Taribo West, former Super Eagles defender, has admitted using charms during his heydays as a footballer. “In my playing days, when I was ignorant, I used to get some mallams and babalawos (magicians) to make charms for us, which we took to training camp.

Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t”, Taribo West stated. He claimed to always wore a magic stone he got from a marabout in Isreal during his playing days. West, now a pastor, alleged well-known coaches also sought the help of marabouts from Senegal, Burkina Faso, Congo and Nigeria, who usually predicted the matches results before being played. West justified the resort to charms, stating that the stadium is peopled by various people, including magicians and some having amulets and all sorts of supernatural substances. West said charms help players protect themselves against forces. He, however, urged players to stop the practice and turn their lives to Jesus Christ.
