Daily Trust reports that the girl’s mother, grandmother and uncle all died in the blast which occurred in Kuje and Nyanya on Friday, October 2.

It was reported that Ifeoluwa’s aunt was one of the 13 people who sustained injuries after the blast and were taken to the national hospital’s trauma centre.

Tayo Haastrup, the chief information officer of the hospital had earlier said they could not identify the girl’s relatives but were focused on taking care of the baby.

“We can’t find the parents for now.”
“The more important thing is now let’s just take care of the baby.”

Her father, Samson Olu finally showed up on Sunday, October 4 and said he was only able to identify her by the shawl which his wife had used to strap her to her back. He said Ifeoluwa was his only child.

He narrated that his wife, Christiana was a student at Nasarawa Polytechnic but had returned to Abuja on Friday to provide some help at her mother’s shop.

“My wife’s brother was in front. My wife carried our baby on her back. Her mother was behind her and her sister was in the back.”

Olu said he has not had the time to cry since the unfortunate incident as he is focused on his only daughter at the moment.

“Three of them are dead. My daughter survived, and is very, very injured.”

In the wake of the bombing in Abuja, President Muhammadu Buhari visited victims of the bomb blast in Abuja after publicly condemning the attack. Boko Haram claimed responsibility of the attack.
